The first thing to consider when planning your annual vacation should not be your destination. It should be the type of vacation you want to have. What exactly do you want to do? How do you want to spend your hard earned time off? Once you can answer these question, you can then start looking into the various destinations that offer such.
For me, I have to have a fairly active vacation. I’m not one for spending 3 weeks sat on a sun lounger passing the time of day. That isn’t for me. I prefer an active vacation and having recently took part in an action vacation discussion I can see that I am certainly not alone in feeling like this. It seems that there are a lot of people out there who want quite a bit more from their holiday than a bit of sun, sea and sand.
Action vacations, as the name suggests are all about action. Of course the word action is very vague and peoples perception of action often differs greatly. For example, your idea of action might be Sky Diving over the wonderful mountains of New Zealand where others might consider Cheese Rolling in Gloucester an action packed vacation.
Whatever you choose, make the most of it. Your vacation is your well deserved break from the toils of day to day life and you should be free to spend it however you wish whether it’s being extremely active or wasting the days away in the Caribbean, the choice is yours.
If an action vacation is your thing, you can get some great ideas and participate in some fantastic discussions on the subjects on the various travel blogs. Your local tour operators may also have some suggestions on what makes a great action packed holiday.
