The UK boasts of a lot of tourist places, but the place that really took my breath away is Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. The city is more like a fantasy back drop you might imagine from a fairy tale. The buildings from Georgian and Victorian architects have lent a special ancient charm to it.

The place delights the eye and offers a lot of things to see and do. A must-see is the Edinburgh Castle. The castle houses the famous One O’Clock Gun, which fires every day at one (except for Sundays). In August, the Castle Esplanade showcases the annual Edinburgh Military Tattoo, in which the Army performs with music, marching and depictions of historical scenes. The famous Witches’ Well is also located in the north-east corner of the Esplanade.

Other places to visit are The Writer’s Museum, Museum of Childhood, City Art Center, and Edinburgh Zoo. Do visit the Scott and the Nelson Monuments that honor Sir Walter Scott and Admiral Lord Nelson respectively. Before planning your vacation, coordinate the dates with the festivals and other events in Edinburgh to maximise your vacation. Some interesting festivals are The Edinburgh Folk Festival, and exhibitions at the City Arts Center.
